Designer and sculptor Anthony Bianco was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1980. He studied glass art, sculpture, and wood furniture design at California College of the Arts, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree from the glass program in 2004. In 2002, while still a student, Bianco interned as a glass-blowing assistant to Maestro Silvano Signoretto in Murano, Italy. He moved to New York in 2009, and worked as an assistant for glass artist Jeff Zimmerman for three and a half years. He founded Bianco Light & Space in 2013 in Brooklyn, New York. Bianco designs and makes by hand sculptural, one-of-a-kind lighting pieces that reference a variety of influences, ranging from Italian Futurism to Sanskrit.
In addition to his own design work, Bianco has taught at many esteemed institutions across the United States, including Public Glass in San Francisco; Chicago Hot Glass; and, in New York, UrbanGlass, Brooklyn Glass, New York University, and the Museum of Modern Art.
