Vintage Industrial Stainless Steel Shade Floor Lamp by Maria Pergay for Uginox, 1968

In good working condition and fully authentic, a very unique and even rare stainless steel chrome floor lamp from 1968, a design by the French furniture designer Maria Pergay.

Condition is in accordance with age and use. This stainless steel floor lamp shows light scratches, stains and dust on the shade. But is in pretty good shape for the more than 50 years that it brightened up living rooms, bedrooms and offices. An true iconic lamp.

Some background information: the Paris-based furniture designer Maria Pergay (born 1930, now 88 years old) is known for her innovative use of stainless steel, a passion ignited as soon as the 1960s and that has continued up until the 1980s.

She received a project involving the use of steel, and thus started Peggy's creations of iconic stainless steel furniture, with her first collection containing among other things the famous Flying Carpet daybed (1968) and the Ring chair (1970).

Pergay proceeded with designing palace interiors for the royal household of Saudi Arabia, as well as furniture for the furniture designer Pierre Cardin (see the last photo series).
