About This Piece

The sculpture depicts the holy apostle Peter, who is characterized by his unmistakable attribute, the key to heaven. Peter, who can often be found at church entrances, is made of Veronese marble and seems to know the Romanesque language. "Veronese marble" is a limestone typical of Verona (northern Italy).
