Vintage Design

Pair of excellent French candlesticks from the transitional or Louis XVI era, c. 1765: fluted baluster stem on stepped round base of bell-shaped plinth, also fluted, pearl rim frieze. On the stem cylindrical candle spout with fluting and wax plates with pearl rim, the wax plates slightly different from each other. Exceptionally fine gilding with matte and shiny parts. Condition: very good, min. signs of age and use, min. abrasion.
