Golfers Mini Portraits, Oil, Framed

A brilliantly executed semi-abstract modernist oil composition, painted in 1974 by the established Swedish artist Ivar Morsing (1919-2009), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the National Museum in Stockholm, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Kalmar Museum and Jönköping Museum. Small yet impactful in its composition, the painting draws our attention to two figures with golf bags, set amidst a sprawling golf course with lush greenery. The artist’s deliberate omission of detailed features encourages viewers to focus on the overall atmospheric ambiance as opposed to their individual characteristics. Painted in a semi-abstract style, there is a strong focus on expressive and textured brushstrokes, as well as rich colours. The use of painterly and dynamic brushstrokes create a sense of energy and movement throughout the painting, and the clever use of a rich colour palette dominated by various shades of greens and yellow with hints of blue helps to unify the composition and emphasise the beauty and lushness of the natural surroundings. This oil on board is housed in a complementary slim gilt frame with red undertones. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has minor scuffs.
