This is an antique book safe. A Continental, cedar disguise volume storage box, dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1910.

Pleasingly book form, with a useful concealed drawer
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Cedar stocks present fine grain interest and rich caramel hues
Fascia engraved with an oval medallion, the corners hosting foliate motif
Usefully sized drawer dressed with a later page insert
