About This Piece

Classicist graphics serving as illustrations belonging to a larger publication, as evidenced by the captions above the heads of the figures. Graphics made in the 18th century in the copperplate technique, hand-painted. The illustration shows the ruler with the insignia in the form of a crown and a sword with a blade in the form of an eagle. A man on a horse makes a gesture of reaching out to his subjects.

A beautifully made copperplate, every detail of the engraving in the facial expressions and outlined shadows are visible. The artist chose colors with a subdued, subdued color with great finesse, with which the graphics in the form of a red strip adorning the passepartout and a golden frame correspond perfectly. Color nuances determine the beauty of the composition.

A show with a classic character. The male figures are calm and static. Visible idealization and attention to faithful reproduction of elements of reality, e.g. clothes. All these features, as well as taking the theme from antiquity, make up the quintessence of the classicist style.

The graphics were used to illustrate the scenes and phenomena described in the text. The publication described the ancient themes characteristic of classicist works, which were a source of inspiration for the art of that time.
