About This Piece

March 17, 1861 marked an important historical moment for Italy, as the unification of Italy was established. After centuries of political and territorial divisions, the unification process carried out by important figures such as Giuseppe Garibaldi, Camillo Benso di Cavour and Vittorio Emanuele II, king of Sardinia, led to the creation of a unitary state. This historic event helped define Italy's national identity and marked the beginning of a period of transformation and modernization for the country.

It was 2011 when the artist Antonio Longo decided to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy with a signed and numbered lithographic work.
The anniversary of the Unification of Italy offers the opportunity to celebrate the country's rich history and cultural diversity, as well as to promote values such as unity, solidarity and inclusion. It is a moment to remember the challenges overcome and to look to the future with optimism and determination, working together to build a more just and prosperous society for all Italian citizens.

Antonio Longo was born in Turin in 1960 but from Cuneo by adoption, Longo has been creating décollages on wood and canvas for twenty years. His works have been exhibited in successful exhibitions both in Italy (Cuneo, Turin, Milan, Viareggio, Perugia, Verona, Lecce) and abroad (Moscow, Istanbul, Kiev, Prague, Sochi, Berlin, Cannes, Warsaw, Monk).
