Mixed technique "composition" Andrés Mende, abstract informalism - contemporary art
Exceptional work carried out by the Valladolid artist Andrés Mende, active during the last decade of the twentieth century and the beginning of the current century. It is an acrylic on paper, characteristic support of this painter. This abstract work surprises the viewer thanks to the contrast of colors and the thorough study of the stroke. Its lines fit in any contemporary space, following the style, or in a more classic environment, such as groundbreaking work.
The expression of the work is helped by the chromatic palette, since in the author the black, brown and ocher colors always predominate, which usually contrast with some other color. In this way, it provides depth and more dynamism to the result. His style is attached to abstract informalism, which could be considered a aspect of European abstract expressionism. Informalism was born in Europe after World War II and is characterized by the inclusion of different materials in the works. Using chance and improvisation create matéric works, with an ideological basis linked to existentialism and individual subjectivity. It differs from the American abstract expressionism in which it is more poetic, more static and more discreet than this.
This painting is eminently mental, nothing arises randomly or by chance. The compositions are premeditated, each stroke is designed. Play with color, with geometry, with straight lines and spots, the result is a vibrant, unreal and lyrical paint.
His style greatly remembers Fernando Zóbel's, artist of Filipino origin recognized worldwide. For him, the discovery of Rothko's painting, Pollock, Kooning ... supposed the escape from figuration, joining informalism and abstract expressionism. However, little by little, Zóbel moved away from expressionist drama, he based his painting on the naked line and the suggested movement through the strokes that cross the paper.
About abstract art
Abstract art is an artistic expression style that is characterized by representing abstracted concepts of reality or independent of the recognizable by the senses, through freedom, irrationality and diversity of shapes, lines and colors. That is, it is a subjective art that does not represent in a precise or figurative way the visual reality that the human being perceives. It emerged around 1900 and was the axis of modern art that covered various artistic movements, such as Cubism, Surrealism and Stijl. Abstract art allows you to generate various interpretations or views according to the receiver because it does not seek to achieve the perfection of the stroke or the plausible compositions. It is considered an art that reaches another dimension of morality and spirituality, because it expresses emotions and sensations separate from logic and objectivity.
