19TH CENTURY BRASS BOUND MAHOGANY WRITING SLOPE CIRCA 1890.GOOD QUALITY BRASS BOUND BOX SLOPE MADE IN MAHOGANY. INSCRIBED BRASS PLAQUE SHOWS THAT THIS WAS PRESENTED TO A MR JAMES STREET IN 1902 FOR HIS SERVICE IN THE CUSTOMS SERVICE.INTERIOR OPENS TO REVEAL A BLACK LEATHER WRITING SURFACE WITH GOLDEN TOOLING, WITH COROMANDEL SURROUND. PEN TRAY AND 2 SLOTS CONTAINING INKWELLS. WRITING SLOPE HINGES BOTH WAYS TO REVEAL STORAGE EACH SIDE.EXPECTED SURFACE MARKS FROM EVERYDAY USE.
