About This Piece

Vintage Design

These are ancient containers for conservation, in this case of Malva and Valerian, often used in ancient pharmacies and shops. Their unique shape has been designed to adapt to dozens of others on a shelf. This splendid pair of Albarelli with blue majolica motifs was found in an ancient house in the Romagna hinterland, probably made at the end of the 1700s, but the characteristic model is antecedent. Perhaps it was made to adapt to albarelli in majolica previously made in the 16th century.
